Sundstrand Sauer Danfoss Electric Motor Current Control

When you have applications like these: conveyor drives, rock crushers, saw mill controls, the main transmission is the AC motor. When you use the load controls to limit the power that is given and the current drawn by the motor, you will save.

When a load draws too much horsepower the motor does the same thing. But the end result is that  you will have reduced motor life or motor burnout.

The electrical motor current is sensed with a current transformer put on one of the power lines to the motor. The transformer output is in range of 0 to 5 amps AC. To use it is converted to 1 ma DC with a current to current transducer. If motor current reaches the current limit, the electrical signal to the EDC is limited to limit current draws.
