When this is in the neutral stance, the control pressure does not let the flow get to the servo pistons, by the way of the  control spool. Each spring loaded servo pistons are ported in the pump case.

Forward

When you have a control handle that is placed in a unusual swashplate angle, the control spool  is gotten out of the way so the porting control pressure to the S2 servo piston. Then as the swashplate is moved around, the feedback linkage redistributes the control spool back to the metering side to a stabilized commanded swashplate angle. When at a full angle, the swashplate will conform against the front mounting flange and the control spool will stay in the open ported spot and not in the metering place.
