Types of Relief Valves On A Main System

There are three relief valves that you can get to help with your VA and VG lines to on pressure overloads. You can get a pilot operated full flow port relief that has a built in anti-cavitation element. Next is a full flow differential area port relief that doesn’t have the anti-cavitation device on it and lastly a full flow inlet or mid inlet system relief.

The last one there , the inlet or mid inlet gives protection to all the downstream work sectors.  The port reliefs you can only get on the hi boy portion only.  This helps out a certain piece might be overloading in a neutral position. To give example of this action: Let’s say you had an excavator that was going over some rough areas and had it’s boom out, it might produce hydraulic shock loads to the cylinders. And those kinds of loads need to be given a break at the port to no cause some damage to it’s components.

So making sure you have the same amount of pressure relief protection at all times will help your relief valves give a better performance to help you do your job.
