Sundstrand Sauer Danfoss Series 20 Bearing Plates Part 2

In the top picture it shows the bearing as being discolored (darkened and tarnished). This could have been done by not using the right fluid or having water within the fluid. And excessive temperatures can also cause this.

In the middle picture it also shows discoloration on the cylinder block side of the plate. The lighter shades of color show that it has a lot of wear made by plate movement in correlation to the cylinder block.  Also if high temperatures and again not using the right fluid can make the plate flutter, making a wear pattern on the cylinder block side of the plate.

In the picture on the bottom has cavitation eroding on the oblong slots on the plate on the cylinder block side. If you see this on either side of the plate, it needs to be replaced.
