Valves can come as combo parts as side priority/end excess or side excess/priority. the valve that is pictured here goes with a pump that has priority port on the other side to the pump inlet. This can be made with priority port on pump inlet side(bottom view). Valve that is pictured goes with a pump that has priority port on pump on the inlet side. the steering uses main control, the flow goes to the directional control valve when steering is left still.

An advantage to using this application is that it gives off flow to the priority side when it is needed. It helps with the valve on the pump to split the priority and flow circuits when the pilot signals come on. These come with a Static or Dynamic load sensor. It also lowers fuel intake for longer periods of time. It helps with performance in that it puts less wear on the engine or electric motor to be changed out as often. It gets rid of the use of remote valves and mounted priority valves and pipework. You can use them with fixed displacement pumps and unloading inlets in directional valves.
