Procedures for installing a standyne DB4 fuel injection pump.
If the injection pump drive gear needs replacing, then you will need accurate engine timing.

While the pump drive gear is against the front plate, the pump shaft (A) and index pin (B) need to be aligned with pump drive gear slot.
The shaft roll pin can be easily damaged when the drive gear is put on to tight if it is put on the wrong way. Pump drive gear, shouldn’t move when putting in the pump index pin into pump drive gear key slot.
Install injection pump partially onto mounting studs (D) without letting the pump housing pilot (C) into the engine front plate.
Should there be any resistance while installing the pump, take the pump back out from the mounting studs and check shaft index pin to drive gear key slot is level. Adjust alignment as often as it needs it. Repeat step 2 after adjusting alignment.
Don’t tighten the nuts more than three full turns on mounting studs. Pump drive shaft index pin could be broken if index pin is not aligned with drive gear slot and nuts are tightened more than 3 full turns.
Put in washers (E) and (F) nuts (G). Tighten nuts 3 full turns only, so the pump want fall off mounting studs.
