Transmission Start Up Part 3
Check the reservoir and if needed, add more fluids.
When starting the prime mover run the the pump at 15010 to 1800 RPM; charge pressure at 190-210 PSI, making sure it is above pump case pressure.
Put the pump control handle to the forward and then the reverse position. The charge pressure will drop to 160-1480 PSI, it will be above motor case pressure.
If you have trouble with the charge pressure falling below 100 PSI, above teh motor case pressure, turn off til the problem is found.
Next run the prime mover at max RPM with the pump in neutral.
See what the reading at the vacuum gauge that is connected to the charge pump inlet is. It shouldn’t be exceed ten inches at normal operating conditions.
Turn off the prime mover, take all gauges and replace the plugs or lines.
Also, look at the fluid level in the reservoir and tighten the caps.
Once all this is done, it if ready to be used.
If you pumps that have a four cubic in/Rev. charge pump, the pressures need to be:
A. 210-240 PSI above pumps case pressure – pump in neutral at 1000 RPM.
B. 300-385 PSi above pumps case pressure – pump in neutral at 1500-1800 RPM.
C. 230-250 PSI above motor case pressure – pump in stroke at 1500-1800 RPM.
