Sundstrand Sauer Danfoss Series 20 – When to Replace Fixed Swashplate

The very top plate shows no marks, scratches or burrs on it. The side that is shown in the picture is the side that is crucial to having the slippers directly against it.

The picture in the middle also shows that is it smooth and flat. It is good to use.

The plate on the bottom shows a smearing on it. The reason for the smearing is that bronze material go on it and got down into the face of the thrust plate and this is called metal transfer.

When it gets like this there is not enough lubrication present and the result is not enough or using bad  fluid.
