Sundstrand Sauer Danfoss Series 40 Integral Charge Pump Part 2

Before assembling , make sure to grease the gerotor assy. with clean hydraulic oil and grease the o rings with petroleum jelly.

Put the woodruff key in the drive shaft.

Push the gerotor assy. into place in the pump housing.  Making sure the gerotor connects the woodruff key in the drive shaft.

If the charge pumps rotation is found by the positioning of the gerotor ring (earlier models) or gerotor cover (later models) and locating pin in the pump housing.

Put the gerotor ring and spacer plate or gerotor cover (with locating pins) over the gerotor assy. into the pump housing, orienting them for the  proper input shaft rotation direction. The pin in the gerotor ring or cover needs to be closest to the control for clockwise input rotation and away from the control for counterclockwise input rotation.

Make sure to put in a new temper load ring in the groove of the spacer plate or gerotor cover.

Put in a new o ring around the gerotor ring or cover. Install the charge pump cover or pad adapter onto the pump housing.

Put back the three hex head screws and torque to 27 to 37 ft. lbs. Check for the correct internal assembly by carefully rotating the pump shaft while tightening these screws.

If the unit is equipped with an auxiliary pump mounting pad. Put the o ring and flange cover or auxiliary pump and secure with the hex head screws. Torque the screws to 20 to 25 ft lbs.
